Position Overview
The Senior Accountant is responsible for managing and overseeing the daily accounting functions, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, and supporting organizational goals through accurate financial reporting. This role involves preparing and analyzing complex financial data, supervising accounting staff, and assisting in the development of internal controls and processes. The Senior Accountant serves as a key contributor to financial planning, audits, and month-end closings, working closely with leadership to provide actionable insights and maintain fiscal health. 
Reporting line (Manager): Financial Director
Location                   : Bulgaria, Sofia, Workplace: San Stefano, 22 - office of the financial department, Hybrid mode/ On Site.
Working schedule   : Standard schedule (Bulgaria), 40 hours / week, (9 am – 6 pm).

Responsibilities:

1. Provide bookkeeping and tax compliance support and participate in mandatory audits.
2. Ensure accuracy and compliance with Local GAAP (Bulgarian national accounting standards) and IFRS.
3. Prepare and submit statutory financial statements and reports, coordinating with auditors and regulatory bodies, as necessary.
4. Verify documents submitted by employees for salary calculations. Account for expenses related to voluntary medical insurance and benefit systems. Ensure timely salary calculations and the formation of reserves for bonuses and vacations.
5. Ensure the timely and accurate filing of tax returns and compliance with Bulgarian tax laws, including VAT, corporate income tax, and other relevant taxes.
6. Perform accounting in the automated 1C system and ensure the storage and archiving of accounting documentation within their area of activity.
7. Interact with banks.
8. Work with contractors.
9. Monitor changes in the regulatory framework within their area of responsibility, participate in discussions of issues, and generate ideas.
10. Participate in the analytical development of decisions and the formulation of requirements when working with regulations and local acts of the organization.
11. Foster a culture of learning and professional growth.

Requirements:

• Higher education with a specialization, minimum of a master's degree.
• Preferably hold an ACA, ACCA, or a related qualification.
• At least 5 years of relevant experience in each function.
• Strong knowledge of Bulgarian GAAP and IFRS.
• Ability to work effectively in cross-functional and international teams.
• Proven experience in successfully passing inspections: provide details on who conducted the inspection, the period covered, comments made, actions taken, and conclusions drawn.
• Comprehensive understanding of financial document flow principles and the complete list of required documents/journals for a full reporting system.
• Knowledge of payroll features for summarized accounting of working hours.
• Expertise in all areas of accounting for foreign employees, including employee rights, reporting, and payroll features (business trips, vacations, guarantees, social payments, etc.).
• Experience and knowledge in international transactions and complex tax structures involving multiple legal entities within the Group.
• Proficient in using financial tools, software, and PO systems.
• Knowledge of judicial legal practices relevant to their area of work.
